KS1 Library Visits
As part of their Autumn topic ‘London’s Burning’, Years 1 and 2 visited Golborne Library to look at all the resources on offer.
The children heard a story about the fire, before colouring in some pictures of Pudding Lane and adding flames made from tissue paper. The trip combined literacy, history, arts and crafts and was very informative!
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Thanks to everyone who came along to our Macmillan coffee morning in September and helped to raise lots of cash for the cancer charity. The children and staff donated cakes and we also held a cake sale at the end of school. Year 2, the Always Award winners, helped parents to choose which yummy cakes to eat. We raised over £210 for Macmillan, which is amazing!
Great Fire of London Projects
Over October half term, the children in Key Stage 1 were asked to complete a project at home: build the Great Fire Of London! They used everything from cardboard boxes to Lego to make fantastic scenes and informative displays.
We looked at all the models together in the hall, then the display was moved to Golborne Library. We walked to the library to see the display and many children and parents took the chance to sign up for a library card: meaning more of our children will have access to the fantastic range of services on offer there!
If you are quick, you can still catch the display. It really looks impressive and we are so proud of our children’s hard work!
In the Summer Term children from Y5 and Y6 visited Condover Hall, which is a residential activity centre. We took part in lots of activities over three days including: archery, laser quest and abseiling. Here we have posted some of our photos, so that you can see some of the things we got up to.
In the Spring term, Years 3, 4/3 and 4 learnt all about Vikings and Saxons and were visited by Njal Thorfinnson, from the Viking era, who invaded the school and tried to set up a settlement in the school hall!
The children pretended to be Vikings and chopped their own wood to make long boats, which they sailed across the water to invade a small town where the monks lived.
The children and teachers learnt a lot about the Viking era and had a fantastic day!
In the Summer Term Y1, Y2/1 and Y2 visited Blackpool, where they ate lunch on the beach, watched the circus and climbed up Blackpool Tower. Have a look at the photographs of their fantastic trip.
In the Summer Term, LKS2 went to Mountain Monkeys where they took part in outdoor survival skills and activities. Have a look at the photographs of this amazing experience.
Children in Need 2015
To raise money for Children In Need, our pupils and staff dressed up as superheroes for the day! We had everyone from Queen Elsa and Iron Man to doctors and nurses. Well done to everyone who made such a great effort, and brought in donations for the very worthy cause. You are all superheroes!
