Keeping our children safe when using the internet is very important at Golborne Community Primary School, which is why we dedicate part of our computing curriculum to E-safety. Alongside the work we carry out in school we also share Safer Internet Day with the children to reinforce the importance of staying safe in today’s highly technological world. Safer Internet Day is coordinated by the Insafe network and is celebrated every year across Europe, and in other countries worldwide.
The UK Safer Internet Centre has produced a pack for parents and carers full of useful advice to help keep children safe when online, which can be found at https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2017/education-packs/education-pack-parents-and-carers
We believe that internet safety education is a crucial element of the curriculum and an essential part of young people’s development. To celebrate the many positives of the internet, the UK Safer Internet Centre have developed presentations to raise awareness of the issues that children and young people face online today. They are experts in the field of online safety education and these presentations can be used to reinforce the messages that have been covered as part of our E-Safety Computing unit.
